The book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, will offer my students an opportunity to read a well known novel that they may not otherwise be exposed to or have the chance to read on their own. The books will be used to spark student’s imaginations and love of reading while improving both their reading comprehension and fluency. We will read the novel aloud as a class and students will engage in connected learning activities such as book projects, character studies, and summarizing, as well as literary discussions. Since this is the first book of the series, students will be inspired to continue reading the series independently as well.
