I teach journalism at a large, urban, public middle school. Our school is racially and socioeconomically diverse. There are 32 7th and 8th grade kids in the journalism class, including a mixture of kids that are gifted, kids that are in regular education as well as students with special needs and those on IEPs. Their work on the newspaper and yearbook essentially reaches all 900+ kids at this school, their families, staff and friends.
