I strongly believe that young children need to be encouraged to play and create. Although I have provided my students with a limited number of options for building, I feel that they could benefit from additional building resources. The possibilities provided by some of the open-ended building materials on my list would give my students even more ways to work together and create imaginative play structures. The creative abilities of my students are endless. I would like to be able to incorporate these materials into building projects centered around our curriculum objectives and reading comprehension. This would give students the opportunity to bring their engineering skills to life and be able to relate them to their reading and writing.
