Flexible seating has increased my students' engagement, focus, and motivation in the classroom. I began letting my students choose where to sit two years ago, and I immediately saw an increase in engagement. Students who were often off-task during work-time became focused on their assignments. My once fidgety students were finally able get their wiggles out without distracting their classmates. My students can currently choose to work in cozy chairs, on stools, or with a comfy pillow. I am hoping this project will provide even more choices for our learning space. Flexible seating does more than enhance our learning experience- it transforms our classroom into a home. I love the look on my students' faces when they see the classroom for the first time. I can tell they cannot wait for the school year to start! Even parents are excited by the options available for their kids. The products I selected will provide even more comfortable seating choices that go beyond the rigid desk and chair that most of us spent our school days in. I have chosen products that will give my students comfortable choices and help us organize our materials in a non-traditional classroom set-up. The bungee chairs and yoga balls will help my students when they have the case of the wiggles. The rug will be a favorite spot for students to curl up with a good book. The clipboards will allow my students to have a functional writing surface no matter where they choose to work. Laptops allow my students to access their educational websites from anywhere in the room, so I have also included lap-trays to make our technology more functional. All of the selections from this project will come together to create a dynamic and productive learning space for my students.
