Our school has a large Hispanic population, many of whom are English Language Learners. While they sometimes struggle to understand what is happening in their other classes, one thing that they do understand is the Guitar. Music is a language that everyone understands, and Guitar class teaches students a musical skill that can turn into a lifelong hobby. Our school just doesn't have enough guitars to keep up with the demand for classes. If we can increase the number of guitars, we can increase the amount of students who can benefit from musical training. We are requesting a guitar for an opportunity to learn to play the guitar, a skill my students can use for the rest of their life! Our current guitar program has grown to include Guitar ensembles and performance opportunities for students who have not had previous instrumental music experience.
