I know the reasons that I feel the Microsoft Surface would benefit the students in my classroom, but I was also curious to what they thought of it, so I surveyed some seniors that have had a teacher who uses the Microsoft Surface in their Mathematics classroom and this is what they shared with me: "I feel the with the Surface I got to interact more in the lesson. The teacher would tell one student to post her work on the board and hand me the Surface to write down my work and share it with the class." "It makes math notes more interesting because they are color coded and using the tools they have like the straight edge makes us able to construct perfect lines when graphing." "Unlike a whiteboard where the notes get erased right away when the teacher writes notes on the Surface, the notes can be saved, referred back to and also posted on Google Classroom which helps us when we study and do homework" "Saves money on our color markers which always dry out and there are infinitely many colors to choose from when writing notes on the board" "I can see the calculator steps." Truly, the Surface is a great help because in my school we do not have Smart Boards to save work and post it on Google Classroom for students that are absent or have poor handwriting. There are also apps that exist where I can create a video lesson on the Surface with my writing which I can post for students that are absent or come in late. Please help us bring the Surface into our classroom!
