My students desperately need to see themselves represented in literature, but they also need to see that a world outside of our small community exists. Bless Me Ultima accomplishes both goals. It also allows my students to really dig into a text and find a deeper meaning and begin to really understand how to analyze literature. Through this book, students will learn to see life through another person's eyes. They will begin to examine how perspective has a huge impact on how we view events and the impression they leave.
