I use whiteboards daily in my small group instruction. These whiteboards take up space and need to be replaced every few years. My hope is that the Whiteboard/Markerboard Dry Erase Table will last longer, take up less space on my shelves, and will allow easier access to quick formative assessments in both reading and math. My students are more engaged, productive, and collaborative when they are able to pick their own working space! The students in my classroom utilize flexible seating options. While some students choose to work at their desk, many students prefer other seating options to complete their work. Upon entering my classroom you may find students sitting on yoga balls in our office space, on teacher-made crate seats at a small table, propped up on pillows on the floor, sitting in our circle area, or huddled around a small table. These colorful stools and lap desks will be an excellent addition to our other flexible seating options. Flexible seating allows students to have choice, builds community, allows children to move, provides comfort, collaboration, and sensory input. These benefits have been linked to better behavior, less distractions, and increased motivation and engagement. Flexible seating improves core strength and posture and creates a better oxygen flow to the brain.
