These novels and Ipad will help to update our classroom library into the 21st century! Exposing my students to literature that interests them is one of my main goals as a teacher. Reading takes anyone on an adventure, it doesn't matter if it's realistic, fantasy, or a biography, it lets you escape and live that novel. My students were reluctant readers before I introduced modern and exciting novels to them. Now, they can't get enough! My classroom library is begging to be updated with a few of these modern series as well as giving them ample back up choices if a book they want to read is already checked out! The Ipad will allow students to be completely responsible for the checking out and checking in of books! My students love to have a say in the classroom and responsibility. Having an Ipad will allow my students to check out books on their own using an app that will allow them to check in the book as well, all while using the Ipad! There will be no chance of someone forgetting to write down a title or an accidental cross off, it will be all digital! This will help my students to prepare for real life! Technology and responsibility are two things that will go with the students all the way until adulthood! These items will not only help my students but will help me to have the ability to have the dream classroom library I have always envisioned as a teacher! I am entering the end of my second year of teaching and have learned that students take so much more interest and pride in the classroom when they can be independent and make smart choices for themselves.
