It can be difficult to incorporate both writing skills and social studies into our short day. By having a social studies journal on primary writing paper, we can do both at the same time! The beginning of the school year is critical for building foundational writing skills, such as handwriting, space between words, capitalization, and periods. These skills can be integrated into social studies while recording learning about social studies topics. This way we can focus on writing fun stories during writing time, rather than just conventions, and their mastery of social studies and foundational skills are tracked and recorded.
