Flexible seating allows students to be independent and learn to make choices that fit best to their needs. They will choose which seat and space work best for them in order to make their best work. Students do their best when they feel comfortable and have the option to decide where they can do the work. In my classroom, the students have a variety of locations to work such as tables, laying down in the carpet with a clipboard, or sitting on the floor. Having options has had a huge impact on their work, completing it and proudly sharing what they have done.
My students feel motivated and engage by making their own choices on how and where they can do their work alone. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them seating options to make more effective learning choices. The fidget bands for chairs, balance balls, and the wobble stools will allow students to sit at their desk or tables but still allowing them to have some movement. These will help my students wiggle out during their independent work time. Also, they can be used as a chair during whole group instruction. The wobble cushions, comfy floor seat and the beanbag chair will allow my students to have floor seating options that make them feel comfortable. In addition, they can be moved and used in other areas of my classroom.
I have witnessed how making choices had positively impacted them in their work and boost their confidence. I believe that having options for flexible seating will help my students.
