The final unit of the tenth grade biology curriculum involves human body systems. In this unit, students will learn about the nervous system, circulatory system, digestive system, and more. This unit is critical as they prepare to take their biology final exams. Fetal pigs would be a wonderful, hands-on way for students to learn about the human organ systems because there is a great deal of similarity between human and pig anatomy and physiology. In addition to the pigs being great tools for teaching content, they will also serve as an engaging activity for students. Students will be able to learn a new lab technique-- dissecting. This will expose them to the vast amount of possibilities and opportunities that exist in the science field. Ultimately, the dissection will be a great way to get students truly excited about science.
