The books I have chosen will increase the number of books and the diversity in our classroom library. Our classroom library is a place where students can choose books that fit their reading level and their specific interests. I strive to include books in our library that represent our diverse student population and their interests. Our school library operates with limited funds, so our classroom library is an important space when it comes to developing student literacy. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind, in fact the students have helped me build the list of requested books. The new books will allow students to choose from a greater variety of books that will allow them to improve their reading skills by reading independently at their own grade level. The sports items will be used during our recess time by students as they run and play. We use recess to focus on inclusivity within our student population and social skills. We currently do not have any recess supplies, so these items will give our students some material that they can utilize during their time outdoors.
