I am a certified occupational therapy assistant, I see how weak core stability, arm strength, dynamic balance, motor control, shoulder strength, eye-hand coordination affects many areas of learning. My project is to start a Motor Lab for all children to participate in. I plan to set up 4 different motor stations working on different areas to strengthen. Every motor station will be fun for everyone. Every teacher will be taught how implement each activity along with the importance of the activity on learning. Strengthening muscle and motor skills, a child's focus and attention will increase along with fine motor activities showing improvement. Strong muscles will increase stamina for sitting, writing, ball skills, and much more with learning. Research shows children with weak gross motor skills have difficulty with fine motor, academic learning, stamina, focus, and more. Children are having to work harder to maintain an upright posture in a chair, to focus, and coordinate the body to perform simple tasks.
