My students have made an amazing impact on our school's Latin club and community. This year, they might have an opportunity to attend the National Latin Convention for the first time! Attending this convention will allow these students to experience something new and amazing, but also to bring those experiences home to share with their classmates. These students would represent our school and our state on the national stage, working with students from around the country to promote, learn, and engage with the Latin language and Greco-Roman culture. The Junior Classical League was created to bring high school students together through their love of Latin, and my students have embraced the JCL as family. In just the two years that I have spent with them, these students have grown through Latin and JCL. This convention will not only teach them companionship and collaboration, but it will also allow them to meet other Latin students from around the nation. This convention includes Latin-themed trivia contests, thematic costume contests, Classical entertainment, athletic "Olympika" competitions, and various opportunities to learn. My students are excited to have a chance to experience this culture of inclusion and camaraderie. They want to meet other Latin students and make new friends from new backgrounds. Donations for our cause would allow these students to break free of the restraints from our low-income district and will allow them a chance to attend this unique conference.
