Our current unit is a fantasy unit. Units of Study places my students in book clubs reading fantasy books of their choice and on their reading levels. Reading books in a series is a way to get students hooked on reading. If they like the book, they may be more likely to pick up the other books in the series growing their reading life. There is a strong correlation between 'series readers' and 'life long readers. With students reading in book clubs, it is necessary to have multiple copies of the books. Therefore, I a trying to build up multiple books in series that my students are reading. While I may not be able to get all my students to love reading, I intend to make every effort to get the right books in front of them and do the best I can to get them to love reading.
