The aquarium will be used to create a river habitat complete with live frogs and placed in our science center for daily observation and care. We'll discuss the habitat of frogs in Pennsylvania, what a frog needs to survive and the life cycle of frogs. The butterfly kit will be used to raise painted lady butterflies. The butterfly enclosure will also be placed in our science center for daily observation and care. We'll discuss the habitat of butterflies in Pennsylvania, what a butterfly needs to survive and the life cycle of butterflies. When the butterflies are raised, we'll release them into the wild, discuss butterfly migration and the habitat of butterflies in Pennsylvania. Our classroom is close to a wooded area but because we're surrounded by parking lots we hear but can't see the birds. The bird feeders will be placed in our many classroom windows where the students will be encouraged to observe the various birds of Pennsylvania up close. Finally, the raised bed will be used to plant indigenous flowers that attract butterflies, insects and birds.
