My co-teacher and I are working on building a library to be used specifically for The Incredible Book Club at our school. It will be used for students who wish to sign up for our "club" and dedicate themselves to reading some of the most amazing books that range from 4-9th grade. I have chosen a variety of novels, informational text, and biographies. Subjects that are covered are slavery, war, civil rights, famous people, and more. The two of us are extremely passionate about literature, literacy, and creativity. Our students are excited about the possibilities of these new books. This club will dedicate themselves to providing a variety of interesting books that will stretch the student's imagination and help each of them enhance their reading abilities. It has taken me months if not longer to compile a list of books based on genre, interest, level, popularity, and costs. The list of books requested is a perfect blend of popular series, biographies, challenging reads, and information texts. This is only the beginning of a library that will grow, and I will continue to add to my list of important books that I think the students will enjoy and learn from. My administration and students are extremely excited to see the new books, to get their hands and minds to work.
