Students are flooded with worksheets! Research shows that concepts are more deeply learned when students draw what they know rather than fill in short answers on another worksheet. For example, if students are learning about geology, they can write the layers of the earth on a line or they can draw and label the layers. Coloring with a purpose is relaxing and slows down the brain. In this day and age when things move so fast and every child has a screen at their finger tips, they need to downshift. This allows students to process content and put it into images. This is also great for those who are not strong writers but may be able to show you what they know through their art. These children's faces beam when they are successful and it is VERY engaging. Having quality colored pencils allows us to spend less time sharpening and more time learning. The cases that the pencils come in will help keep them in good shape and make them easy to store.
