These books will benefit two different populations at our high school. We will use the texts in a TEAM classroom to help students improve reading comprehension through an engaging text. We will also use the books to help prospective AP students who may not have the funds to purchase a new book for their summer work. All students deserve access to new books and new ideas. This project will help give access to students who are often marginalized due to cognitive or behavior setbacks or even monetary issues. Lessons will include small group discussions, reflective writing pieces and dialectical journals to ensure students are connecting the text with the world around them.
