I plan on making a Finding Purpose Unit where students can choose a novel to read in small groups. Even though groups will be reading different texts, as a class we will be analyzing similar literary elements. Students will be grouped together and discuss the novels together, but also in the large class setting. This will be the last unit in the academic school year since I will be guiding the students to this unit where they can interact with a text in a far more independent way. I want to give students the ability to choose a work that they are interested in reading and would like to build a library with novels that are modern, age appropriate, and lexile appropriate.
