My goal is to provide rigorous learning opportunities for each student, and attending this conference will help me make that a reality. As a first year teacher, attending this conference will connect me with resources, colleagues, and rich content that I will bring back to my students. Specifically, I will learn from educators who are serving their students in profound ways, and I will learn new strategies for promoting high level conversations, engaging students with inquiry methods, and building strong student agency. I will also receive high level content resources, which will help my students grow and find their voices in our content. Additionally, in light of our region's troubles with teacher retention, attending this conference will support our social studies team and ensure longer-lasting teachers. Not only will this conference give us bonding opportunities, but it will provide content-based support to sustain our own social studies passions. I am certain that this trip will make me a better teacher and make our social studies team much stronger.
