Special Need students are often delayed not only in academics but in the necessary life skills needed to live independently after graduating high school. Post-Pandemic special needs students are even more behind due to the trauma brought on by living in a pandemic. We have gone into survival mode and less time has been spent teaching basic living skills. This project will allow our special education department to obtain the materials to teach our special needs students life skills such as making beds, cooking, and basic finance. We will have the supplies to teach basic cooking skills. With the display racks, we will be able to create a school store that will allow the students to work on using money to buy products and also sell items and give the appropriate change. The bed and bedding will allow the students to learn to apply sheets and make their beds. The table and dishes will be used to teach skills such as table etiquette, setting a table, and dishwashing. These skills are essential to independent living outside of high school.
