Our students have experienced much trauma already in their lives. For some, school is their only safe place. In order to educate and encourage our young minds, we recognize that it is imperative that we lead our students first in a journey to help them learn coping skills and social emotional skills. We can't ignore their hearts to fill their minds. We must first address the trauma that they are experiencing and teach them to excel not in spite of their circumstances, but because of them! The furniture that we need your help to acquire is to provide a safe, comforting environment for our students who have experienced trauma to go to for social-emotional learning groups, restorative circles, and de-escalation. Within this space, we will focus on relationship-building with our students and create opportunities for our students to take brave risks and grow while developing skills that they will need to succeed inside and outside of school! They will be given opportunities to repair any damage that their actions may have caused within our school community through responsive circles and to manage their emotions through zones of regulation. We thank you for your consideration in helping our students learn and grow in a safe place based on love.
