The requested resources will allow students to be more proficient in their native language, which will provide a solid foundation that supports second language acquisition and development. It is expected that this support will also promote and facilitate proficiency in the English language as well. Reading selections in students' native language expands their knowledge on a variety of topics and supports the content and skills in each of their grade levels. Students from Pre-K to 8th Grade will benefit from a variety of reading selections that support and strengthen academic achievement as well as language acquisition. Newcomer students are in great need of these resources and supports.
