Band class can serve as an escape from a stressful school day or other challenges. We are lucky enough at my school to be able to provide instruments and mouthpieces to every student in the band. However, with 260 band students and nearly 70 clarinet players, we cannot afford to purchase top of the line mouthpieces for every student. Students cannot create high-quality music on low-quality equipment. Providing students with high-quality mouthpieces and instruments removes some of the extra challenges associated with learning an instrument. When students don't have to worry about whether or not their instrument works properly, they can relax and focus on making music!
