Our students participate in the Special Olympics Spring Games. Special Olympics provides athletic competition for children with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. This makes a difference in students' learning by building their team work skills and giving them a sense of camaraderie in a healthy environment outside of school. Students in this low incidence program have limited opportunity to participate in organizations outside of school due to transportation concerns. This is the only organization that meets during school hours to allow the students opportunity to participate.
