As an AVID School, Early College High School students are expected to complete CORNELL Style and Focused Notes. These are highly effective organizational note taking techniques but are difficult to complete with digital tools. Digital Templates can mimic the format of the CORNELL and Focused notes but are often word processor based and limit the students ability to sketch and create other visual memory aids. Some studies are even showing that handwritten notes help students retain more information. Traditional handwritten notebooks, though, do not allow the students to connect digitally. They are also easily lost or damaged and all of the student's work with it. Using the Rocketbook Everlast notebooks students will receive the benefits of both handwritten and digital styles. Students will be able to take handwritten notes complete with visuals and then upload them directly to the cloud. All ECHS students have Google Drive access where their notes can be stored and shared digitally. Now that Google Classroom is linked to Google Drives it is likely that handwritten notes can be checked by a teacher without the notebooks ever leaving the student's possession. The best part is that the Everlast is reusable! Students will be able to upload their notes and then have a clean slate for their next class!
