My classroom is located in the school's computer lab. Students are lucky enough to be able to have the technology for participate in STEM related lessons. I currently teach 5-7 grade students a mixture of computer science and engineering. Students in 5th grade learn how to use HTML to code personalized websites using code.org. Students in grade 6 learn how to make mobile applications through MIT App Inventor and the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum. Students in 7th grade are combining math and engineering in a course called Green Architecture. The first part of the class, students explore measurement, scale, perimeter, and area in an applied format. In the second part of the class, students explore how to make building more environmentally friendly to reduce waste and cost.
