National College Signing Day is May 1 , 2019 and we are excited to celebrate our seniors who have made the commitment to higher education! This type of celebration will be the first of it's kind ever in the history of our school. We will recognize each of our seniors who have committed to a 2 or 4 - year institution of higher education. Our celebration will include community support from city officials, school system officials, families of seniors and students in our school all here to show their support and encourage those heading to college. It is also a platform for these students to inspire and encourage others to reach this level of achievement. Our gym will be decked out with personal tables for each senior with their commitment school gear, balloons, food, and a DJ to help us make this a successful event. All persons in attendance will also be asked to wear college t-shirts as a visual representation of support. For four years, we have had the opportunity to "PREP" - Plan, Relate, Educate, and Prepare our students to secure their futures and now it is time to equip them with the necessary essentials for college campus life. With the majority of our seniors coming from extremely low - income families, we know that providing necessary items like bedding and laundry baskets filled with necessities may not be the first on the list. We will also raffle off a speaker, a FireStick, and food gift cards too! Celebrating our students in front of the entire school will help create a college preparedness culture. Please help us celebrate our college bound seniors further their education and secure their futures!
