Scooter Island is a very popular game at Cloonan. The students have the opportunity to work cooperatively to solve problems. All students need to work together to cross the ocean successfully if one person falls in they all start over. We transform our gym into a tropical oasis each team of students is given 2 boats (scooters), 3 islands (mats) and a rope. The team needs to get everyone across the ocean with out getting eaten by sharks. If a player on your team falls into the water the team needs to start over. As we watch our students problem solve and include everyone we are often amazed at the different solutions they come up with to help everyone be successful. The students really look forward to this unit and we have the most participation of any unit when we play this game.
