During the day, my students have time set aside for personal choice reading, but many students have trouble finding books that interest them or are accessible to their independent reading level. Some just don't like to read at all. I want all my students to be able to find books that tap into their interests and also help them see into the lives of people who have faced and overcome challenges. Most of these books will be used for student choice reading and sharing and the set will be used as class read-along and small group literacy reads. The other items will be used to help organize the books and make them physically accessible for all the students. There are also a few items to enhance their outdoor play time. Recess time meets the needs of all my students to mentally break from the effort of learning and release their energy.
