I want my students to feel like their classroom belongs to them! I want to help foster independence in their learning environment by having better storage, seating, and reading materials at their physical and developmental levels. Kindergarteners can do so many amazing things, but need an environment to support their little bodies! The toy storage system will give my students the opportunity to independently access math manipulatives for exploration/ hands on learning that they so desperately crave and need. The book shelf will enhance our classroom library space so it is more accessible, organized, and inviting for my beginning readers. I hope to fill our library with more non-fiction books. My students currently don't have access to engaging non-fiction at their reading level. Many non-fiction books are written for an older audience, and often can only be read by a teacher. I picture my students building confidence in their skills while sitting with one another sharing these books that they CAN read! Lastly, the stools will be used for a small group reading space, as well as be moved about the room throughout our day. They are light and easy to move, so my students can use them when they want/need.
