With the honors sophomore class, I would like to teach Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize winning Novel, All the Light We Cannot See. It fits perfectly within the standards of both what the students are studying in history class as well as enables them to study strong literary and narrative technique as they prepare for Advanced Placement and college classes. Literary analysis of a complex text like this, especially for motivated and emerging readers, teaches them not only critical reading and writing skills (and they will write a great deal of analytical essays as we explore the novel) but critical thinking skills as well.

About my class
