My first grade students come from Africa, Asia, Central America, across the US, and right here in Texas! My goal is to build a safe and warm environment where new concepts can be explored and growth is encouraged. Many of my students are in the process of learning their second or third language and also over 90% are part of the free and reduced-price lunch program. In these challenging times, my first graders still need hands-on activities to help them master abstract concepts; they just need a safe way to do it! These items will help my students have hands-on experiences in math, science, and language arts in safe and socially distanced ways but in ones that are full of exploration and fun and that lets them still be kids! Being able to expose my sweet wiggly friends to fun learning experiences that they do not have outside the school environment is of great importance. Having these tools and supplies will allow them to explore and grow and let them take ownership of their own learning in invaluable ways.
