This wonderful school has deeply committed students who love to play music. Unfortunately, due to extremely limited funding and and hard times on the town the band program has been unable to purchase any band instruments. When I visited my classroom for the first time the percussion section had a beat up snare drum, a bass drum close to falling apart and a very old beaten up xylophone. A marimba would enhance the musicality of the percussion section greatly. It would give them a greater ability to learn and practice. Picture this, students learning responsibility, musicality and would take ownership of this instrument. They would not only learn how to play it correctly, but also how to take proper care of it and make sure it lasts our music department many years of joyful band concerts.
