When I first started teaching in this art room, it was very bare. There were minimal supplies available, and it was clear that the previous teachers hadn't given much thought to organizing or creating a space for effective learning. It is my goal to make this classroom the best it can be. With our increasing student numbers, the art classroom needs a little organizational updating! With the drying rack, we will finally have a place where students can keep their artwork while it dries. With 100 slots for drying, this allows at least 4 classes to store artwork until it is completely dry. Currently, we are only able to store one class at a time or else we run out of room. In order to keep papers organized, I often have to take paintings off the rack before they are dry and stack them together. As you can imagine, we the paint sticks and dries to the paper above, it tears the artwork and breaks my students hearts. It's crazy to think how much of an impact a drying rack can have. The storage bins will help keep supplies organized and in one place so students know where to find them when they need them. Currently, we don't have many ways to organize all the supplies for students and it can get a little chaotic when we start the art making process. The plastic storage boxes will help to create check out kits for students who would like to check out supplies. This will allow students to take a kit home to help them create outside of school hours.
