Checking each individual interest and trying to find corresponding books was tough but it is working! Even the first day the students had the books, they were already reading five to ten minutes more per session.\r\n\r\nI have always been an avid reader. Since I was a child, I could get lost in any book. My students struggle though, finding books they actually want to read. So many of them have decided they don't like reading, either because it is tough for them or they haven't found a book that interests them. Every week, during homeroom, the students are required to read for at least thirty minutes. This helps their reading stamina, allowing them to read for longer periods of time. So far, most of them are up to twenty-five minutes! Coming from just ten minutes, that is a huge improvement!\r\n\r\nOn the day I passed out the books, I literally had students exclaim things like, \"Ooh, you got more 'I, Survived' books\" and \"Yay, new books.\" I have one student who loves Greek mythology and the book about the gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece fascinates her.
