These materials will be the foundation of my 11th grade World Literature class for our last unit of the school year. The focus is on human rights, and these two novels along with the multi-media video of "The Breadwinner" will help in keeping their engagement for a very serious unit topic. These novels and movie, will help to make sure that my students understand that they have access to a lot of necessities that other people their own age in other countries do not. My hope is that through other supplemental articles, activities such as problem solving real world problems, Note and Notice activities between both novels, and a book trailer project; that my students will walk away with a new awareness for what it means to have human rights.
