My students read two core novels that take place during the Great Depression, "Of Mice and Men" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." In order to help them better understand the setting, I'd like them to read "What Was the Great Depression." We will examine essential questions like "What was it like to grow up in the Great Depression" and "How were different parts of the country impacted by the Great Depression?" The history textbook does not contain the level of detail necessary to examine those essential questions, and it's important for students to realize that they can use multiple resources (and not just the internet :)).
