My students will use games and books to help improve their social emotional functioning and classroom behaviors. Many of my students have experienced trauma in their young lives and this creates difficulty with learning. When a child's most basic needs are not being met, it's difficult to learn. My students need coping skills to be able to handle their emotions and behaviors and to one day become productive citizens of our community. The games and books that I have chosen will make it a fun and memorable experience to learn coping strategies and skills to improve their emotional functioning. The games help them to remember what they have learned, as they experience fun with their peers. I have worked with struggling students for the past 15 years and lack resources to help them on their journey of healing and developing life skills. I will use these resources to help my students to build the steps to success.
