The First Grade curriculum is forever evolving and it is even more important for students to have options on HOW they want to complete their work. As 6 and 7 year olds, they need to develop self-regulating skills to help them know when they need to give their body a break. We are in need of a standing desk option for students who need a body break and have difficulty sitting to complete their work. Our current classroom furniture doesn't reflect how the world has changed and continues to change. Offices are now equipped with flexible seating, options for workers to be most successful. We need that now in our schools. For students to begin to understand how they can be most successful. By giving them this option, I hope to achieve this!
