Students need chances to work with educational technology. Many of my students cannot use a computer beyond a hunt and peck typing level or selecting an app from touch screen device to play the hottest new game. I want to provide educational experiences through the use of technology that will be invaluable in preparing them in using technology in the future. I want to have a dedicated set of devices where students can complete a writing station where their writing is typed so I can easily publish it to a class blog or Class Dojo. This will also increase their typing skills and allow them to spread their thoughts on a higher platform. I also plan to use these to help them create digital portfolios to share their hard work with their family and the community. These devices will be priceless in fostering a love for reading. Each of these 6 devices can be considered a personal library through the use of apps such as EPIC, Raz-Kids, ABCMouse, and Encyclopedia Britannica. My personal favorite opportunity I will be able to provide my students is the increased variety of ways to practice retrieval of information and assess their learning. Through the use of SmartNotebook, students will be able to interact with each other using Shout It Outs, Quiz Shows, and Individualized Digital Flashcards. Students will be able to track their learning through the use of Badges and the tools on Flippity. Students will be able to reflect on their own behavior and educational choices though the use of ClassDojo. These tablets will be well cared for and used constantly. I believe that by providing educational experiences with technology we can increase the rigor and engagement of our student's learning and prepare them for the future!
