Scientific calculators will make a huge difference in these students’ learning experiences because they are performing complex equations using sine, cosine, and tangent functions. By bringing math and science together in one class, students can see the cross-content relationships better to deepen their understanding. Being able to use mathematics to explain science concepts proves deep critical thinking has occurred. These students have the ability to bridge the gaps and make the connections. They struggle actually performing the calculations because they are lacking the tool that could get them there. With calculators, I can push my students harder, get them more exposure to different types of technology, and (hopefully) instill a passion for the two subjects!
