My students are reading, writing and solving math problems at a wide range of ability levels. Even though I teach middle school, I have students that are reading and writing at a Kindergarten level while others are at an 8th-grade level. Because of this wide range of ability levels, I have a need for educational materials that meet my students needs where they are. Differentiating is crucial for students so that they are able to feel confident in the work they are doing and achieve success. Often times, my students become frustrated because they are given work that is either far too difficult or far to easy for them to complete. This frustration can lead to behavior issues, classroom disruptions and if left unaddressed, failure. I will use the materials from this project to scaffold my students' learning so that each child is receiving work at his or her instructional level. Students will be able to work on material that is challenging, but not too difficult so that they are tempted to give up from frustration. My goal is that I have a library of teaching materials so that all of my students have reading, writing and math materials that meet their needs as the unique and wonderful individuals that they are.
