Due to health and safety guidelines, our usual classroom flexible seating options have had to go. COVID-19 has changed the way our school day looks this year, including the removal of all backrest pillows, carpets, and fabric cushions that we normally use. My students always look forward to times in the day where we they can choose their seat in order to do their best work, and I want to continue that engagement this year more than ever. It is my goal to provide students comfortable, and accommodating seating options to maximize their focus and learning! Allowing students the choice in seating during independent work time empowers them and gives them ownership of their learning. I have seen how my students have increased focus and engagement when they are given the opportunity to choose a place to work that fits their needs. These flexible seating items will be able to provide my students safe seating options made of plastic material that can easily be wiped down or disinfected. Wiggle seats, yoga balls, and wobble stools will allow my students to continue to work at their desks 6 feet apart, all while getting out some of their wiggles!
