I have decided to choose resources and products that I can use in speech therapy. I chose 20 books that go with a speech/language resource that I already own: "Year-Round Literature for Language and Artic." Some of the books are well loved children's books such as "The Rainbow Fish," "The Mitten," and "Big Red Barn." Using literacy is one of the best ways to improve a child's communication skills. I can target sequencing, answering questions, comparing/contrasting, inferencing, predicting, social skills, and speech sounds. I also love using tangible items in speech therapy, instead of just pictures. That's why I chose three different sets of pull apart erasers. I will have my students sort the erasers into their appropriate category, use them for describing, and comparing/contrasting. The last couple items are flashcards that will be used when I'm teaching a child a particular skill, such as opposites, categories, and prepositions. The "Headbanz" game will be used once students have mastered asking and answering questions, describing objects, and the skill of elimination. The smelly markers will be used as a reinforcing activity once students have completed their task for the day.
