We have a snack and brain break every morning in our classroom. I emphasize healthy snack choices and encourage parents to send in fresh fruit or veggies, pretzels, granola bars, etc. Due to financial and time constraints, most students bring in packaged items such as doughnuts or bags of chips. I feel it's important for my first graders to have a healthy snack/brain break in the middle of their busy morning, and I wish to provide every student the opportunity to make a healthier choice. I selected granola bars and pretzels to stock in my classroom for those students who, for whatever reason, do not have a healthier snack.
