I have found that my students are inspired to read more books as they learn about specific authors. They are more motivated to write about the books that we read. Having a place to highlight the books, will make them accessible to my class. We need something bigger than a basket we need a bookshelf. I have had parents tell me that their child talks about the authors we study and that when they go to the public library they are so excited to find a book by an author that they know! This makes reading even more engaging for my students. Integrating writing and reading using amazing authors is an exciting way to learn.
