Our English learners deserve the opportunity to experience the great outdoors. Many of them have never had the opportunity to venture out of the state of Georgia. This learning expedition will allow them to physically explore environments outside of their home state and cultivate inquiry. For a language learner, there is no better way to learn than being able to see, touch and actively engage in what they are learning. This makes ideas that are abstract more concrete. Through this trip, the students will be given a unique, cultural learning experience. They will be given the opportunity to engage with the social studies and science curriculum in a new way. They will receive an experience that will enhance their classroom learning of the structure of the earth system and increase their awareness of our impact on the environment. Additionally, they will have the chance to build background knowledge that can contribute to their academic success.

About my class
